Reading too fast is a habit, and a delight, and a disease. One book flows into the next. Part of my mind is usually elsewhere, sliding in a dizzying trip from naval dragons to the Biafran war, murder in Venice, sixteenth-century France, sentient spaceships, espionage in Morocco, lost daughters, people becoming trees, racing scandals, Viking battles…

This blog is an attempt to slow myself down. Books provoke thought and deserve attention. Attention must be paid.
